05 Sep Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame’s International inductee for 2017 is the Legendary Motorcar Company

TORONTO (Sept 5 2017) — The Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame (CMHF) has named the Legendary Motorcar Company as its 2017 inductee in the International Category.

Located in Halton Hills,Ont., Legendary Motorcar is own and operated by Peter Klutt, who started the company more than 30 years ago and built it into Canada’s largest collector car dealership and restoration facility.
“There’s no doubt that Peter Klutt’s world renowned facility and special-interest car centre has been at the forefront of automotive restoration since opening its doors in 1985,” said CMHF chairman Dr. Hugh Scully.

“Legendary Motorcar has worked tirelessly over the past three decades to support and promote the sport and restore some of its most cherished automobiles to pristine condition. Walking through the facility’s museum is always a pleasure.”

Legendary Motorcar has also restored several significant racing automobiles back to their full glory over the years. For example, in 2016 it unveiled a 1966 Ford GT40 used as a support car for the famous Canadian Comstock Racing Team at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park during the CMHF’s 2016 Celebration of Speed.

More recently, visitors to the 2017 Canadian International Auto Show’s Castrol Alley saw Legendary Motorcar’s handiwork with many fully restored classic muscle cars from the ’60s and ’70s on display.

Klutt has also raced competitively for 20 years in SVRA and TransAm and has 29 NASCAR Canada starts, most recently in the Pinty’s Series stop at Exhibition Place on the undercard of the 2017 Honda Indy Toronto.

Legendary Motorcar also has racing run in the family with Peter’s son Gary competing in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. Gary Klutt was NASCAR Pinty’s Rookie of the Year in 2015, was named one of NASCAR Next Class in 2016 and recently made his NASCAR Monster Series debut at Watkins Glen International.

Legendary Motorcar also helps to promote the motorsport and automobiles through Discovery Velocity’s Legendary Motorcar, hosted by Peter and Gary Klutt. Peter previously appeared on the television program Dream Car Garage.

At one point, Legendary Motorcar also served as the storage facility for the CMHF’s auto collection. Today, it is home to the head office of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.

Legendary Motorcar will be welcomed into the hall during the 23rd CMHF Induction Ceremonies at the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.’s Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto on Oct. 14. Also being inducted as members are the Class of 2017 announced earlier this year: Builders Dr. Jacques Bouchard, Dr. Ronald Denis, Chris Pfaff, and Sid Priddle and competitors Terry Dale, Peter Lockhart, Dave Mathers, Major-General Lewis McKenzie (retired), and John Powell.
