Induction Gala Shifts to February

Nominations will open later than usual this year

Due to a new partnership with the Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS), the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame’s (CMHF) annual induction gala will not be held in 2019 after the ceremony was rescheduled to February 2020.

After a special induction to honour 10 media members during the 2019 auto show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the CMHF and the CIAS entered into an agreement to hold the next annual induction gala during Canada’s largest auto show.

“After a hugely successful media event in February, there’s no doubt that this partnership is a win-win,” said Dr. Hugh Scully, Chairman of the CMHF board of directors.

“There’s no better place for the CMHF to honour its inductees than at a show dedicated to the people, companies, and brands involved in all forms of motorsport in Canada and around the globe.  I’m already looking forward to another exciting evening at the CIAS in February 2020.”

In recent years, the CMHF’s induction gala has been held in October.  Moving the event to February and adding it to the CIAS line-up will help share the excitement of all forms of motorsport with the AutoShow’s huge consumer audience.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide an international showcase for the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame that will spotlight these worthy recipients in a world class environment,” said CIAS General Manager Jason Campbell.

“Our Formula One and INDYCAR celebrations in recent years have been some of our most popular feature showcases.  We look forward to growing this association and expanding upon a project that we believe will help boost awareness of both the CMHF and the AutoShow in years to come.”

Nominations for candidates for consideration by the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame’s selection committee will be accepted beginning the fall of 2019.  Nominations are accepted in five categories: competitors, builders, team members, significant contributors and media.  Nomination forms will be available on once the nomination period opens.

The Canadian International Auto Show runs from Feb. 14 – 23, 2020.
