The first time he sat in a kart, racing simply felt natural to our Rising Star award winner. When he got to the age where he could race cars, he gave it a try and that’s when he said to himself “This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.”
After finding success in karts in Canada, Latifi crossed the Atlantic in 2012 to try his hand racing in Europe. He knew that going head-to-head against the best young drivers in the world was the only way to make the most of his natural talent and prove he belonged in the pinnacle of motorsport.
Success soon came soon after his arrival in Italian Formula 3 and British Formula 3 series. His performances delivered a test and reserve driver role with the Renault Sport F-1 Team.
Last season, he scored his first career Formula 2 win at Silverstone and ended the season with 9 podium finishes, enough for 5th overall in the championship.
He returned to F-2 this season and was 9th overall in the championship with one round to go.
His impressive form in 2017 was rewarded by the Sahara Force India F-1 Team which recuited him as its reserve and test driver for 2018.
