Celebration of Speed (COS) is a one-day track event where car enthusiasts and the public, aged 10 and older, can experience the “ride of their life” in exceptional cars with experienced race car drivers. All proceeds from the event support the Canadian Motorsport Heritage Foundation, a charitable organization founded in 1993 that operates the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame (CMHF), which honours individuals and organizations for their notable achievements and significant contributions to Canadian motorsport.

The 2024 Ontario event is held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park located in Clarington, Ontario.

THE CTMP GRAND PRIX CIRCUT

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s renowned 3.957-km (2.459-mi.) Grand Prix track opened in 1961. This high-speed circuit comprises 10 turns and several dramatic elevation changes that will provide Ride-Along and Track Day drivers with an exciting variety of challenges on every lap.

RIDE-ALONG TICKET
$150.00

DESCRIPTION:
(4 sessions x 3 laps each) Guests may select which vehicle they wish to ride in each session & ticket sessions may be shared with different passengers.

Additional single-session Ride-Along tickets at $60 each or 4 session Ride-Along tickets at $150 each may be available on event day from the Ride-Along Registration tent in pit lane. (Cash or Credit Card)

EVENT DAY PROCEDURES
  1. Enter the Grand Prix Circuit via the main gate at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
  2. Follow way finding signage for Ride-Along event registration.
  3. Registration opens at 8am at the Ride-Along tent in pit lane.
  4. On-track activities will run from 9am to 5pm – Rain or Shine.
  5. Show proof of payment (email or printed receipt from online purchase), sign the waiver, and obtain a 4 – session Ride-Along ticket.
  6. All pit stalls will have a number and the same car will always return to the same pit number.
  7. Each pit stall will have 2 helmets for guests to use, along with a helmet liner. Both helmets are to remain at each pit. Special-size helmets will be available at the helmet table in pit lane. Please ensure you return your special helmet size to the table after use. Guests are welcome & encouraged to bring their own helmets.
  8. When it is your turn for a ride an attendant will ask for your ticket, punch one of the four holes and then help you get in the car and buckled in.

THE CELEBRATION OF SPEED IS NOT A RACE OR A TIMED SPEED EVENT. IT IS A FUN DAY IN AMAZING CARS WITH EXPERIENCED TRACK DRIVERS.

This track day event is for intermediate and advanced track day drivers only. There are no novice sessions at this event. If you have less than intermediate level skill or experience please do not register for this event.

We would like to discuss your experience level before you register. We reserve the unilateral right to withhold registration to any applicant that we feel does not meet the minimum standard experience level of an Intermediate Level Track participant. We do this for your safety and for the safety of all other Track Day participants.

EVENT DAY PROCEDURES

  • Helmets are required for all drivers & passengers
  • Auto sport helmets to be current SA approved.

  • Self tech required prior to arriving at the track
  • Ensure that your vehicle is capable of participating on track at speed
  • Suggest you review condition of tires, brakes, brake fluid, oil & coolant levels plus tire pressure & lug nut torque as major check items on your check list

  • 8:00 am driver’s meeting in the paddock garage, located below the pits.
  • 9:00 am track opens
  • 5:00 pm track closes
  • Sessions will be 25 minutes in duration.
  • NOTE: you will not be allowed on track if you or your passenger does not have a windshield sticker, wrist band or a helmet
  • First lap out in the morning will be under a yellow flag, with no passing for the first lap. The green flag will be displayed at the start/finish for lap 2
  • After the driver’s meeting, and in accordance with the schedule, proceed to the pit lane.
  • Track Day pit lane staging will be on the left-hand side of the pit lane. Ride-Along pit lane staging will be on the right-hand side.

  • Obey the blend lines, stay driver’s left when entering the track
  • Watch & obey the marshal flag signals
  • Passing rules:
    • Passing anywhere but not at the apexes
    • Car being passed stay on line, roll out of the throttle to allow the passing car to get by safely

  • MMS will provide a flag demo at the driver’s meeting
  • Green – clear track
  • Yellow – caution, waved be prepared to stop
  • Red/Yellow – track is slippery
  • Blue – let a faster car pass you when safe to do so
  • Black –return to pits, report to the marshal at pit out
  • Red – reduce speed, pull to side of track & stop at next flag station and await directions from the marshal

  • Late comers please go directly to the Ride-Along registration tent in pit lane.
  • If you have any issue please see Robin Virtue or Peter Lockhart for resolution
  • Food truck (s) will be available in the paddock from 8:00am until 3:00pm
  • Gas pumps in GP paddock open at 10:00am until 3:00pm
  • We will cover all these items in the driver’s meeting & answer question at that time.
