NOMINEES

SUBMIT A NOMINATION

The Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame (CMHF) depends on public nominations to identify outstanding individuals and organizations for consideration for induction.

If you know someone you believe deserves recognition — and who is not already an inducted member — we invite you to review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Scoring Matrices before submitting a nomination. These resources will help you prepare a complete, well-supported nomination with the greatest chance of success.

Nominations are accepted year-round. However, to be considered for the Class of 2026, submissions must be received no later than July 31, 2026 (end of day). Nominations submitted on or after August 1 will be evaluated in the following year’s cycle.

If you have questions about the nomination process or experience any difficulty submitting a nomination, please contact us at info@cmhf.ca.

NOMINATION SCORING MATRICES

Members of the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame’s Independent Selection Committee review all submitted nominations using two dedicated scoring matrices — one for Competitors, Builders, and Significant Contributors and another for Media nominees.

These matrices assign weighted values to achievements, contributions, and accomplishments identified in each nomination. This approach ensures that all submissions are evaluated consistently, fairly, and as objectively as possible.

Individuals preparing a nomination are strongly encouraged to review the appropriate scoring matrix in advance and present their nominee in a way that clearly reflects the significance of the criteria outlined in the charts below.

NOMINATION PROCESS FAQ

TIMELINES

Nominations are accepted throughout the calendar year. The cut-off date for consideration for the following year’s class of inductees is the end of day on July 31. Nominations received on or after August 1 will be reviewed with those submitted the following year.

ELIGIBILITY

To be considered, individuals must be deceased or retired for at least three years, or if still active, involved in motorsport for at least 21 years.

RECEIVED NOMINATIONS

Nominations remain eligible for consideration for a period of two years. If additional information is required, the Chair of the Independent Selection Committee will contact the nominator.

Once a nomination is submitted, it is reviewed for completeness and confirmed with the nominator before being forwarded to the Independent Selection Committee. It is the nominator’s responsibility to ensure that the online form is accurate and fully completed. The Committee will verify the information provided but will not add new material to the nomination.

Following their review, Committee members score each nominee using the established evaluation matrices. Composite scores are then forwarded — with nominee names removed — to the Board of Directors, which determines the annual induction threshold.

Successful nominees are contacted by the Board Chair in late September. The Induction Ceremony is held in February.

GUIDELINES

CMHF Board members and Selection Committee members may not submit nominations or provide support letters. Past nominees not yet inducted can be nominated again.
